Recite Torah

and explain what this posuk teaches us.

Explain the differences between a Sefer Torah, Mezuzah
and Tefillin in the following areas:
- their level of Kedusha (holiness);
- when must they be checked;
- When, how, and by whom they are used.

Do the following:
- Explain the two signs that make an animal
kosher;
- Describe two animals that only have one of
those signs;
- Name four (4) animals that can be used in making
a Sefer Torah.

Name the materials required in writing a kosher
Sefer Torah.

Describe the qualities a Sofer must have in order
to write.

Tell or write a story about the checking of Mezuzos
or Tefillin.

Find a place in the prayers where it mentions the
mitzvah of writing Tefillin and Mezuzos.

Get a friend
to buy a letter in the “Children’s
Sefer Torah”

Step Two
-
List at least
four (4) things that are required to make a Sefer
Torah l’shmah
(with intention).

Demonstrate how a Mezuzah is placed and do the following:
- Recite by heart the
Brocho (without Hashem’s
name);
- Show on a doorpost how it is placed and why.

Describe at least three (3) types of rooms or doorways
that do not require a Mezuzah.

Find two
different types of mistakes on the Mezuzahs in
the”Skill Sheet”.

Mark the
places where the Mezuzah goes on the “doors” in
the “Skill Sheet”.

Explain why the Torah begins with the letter Beis.
Do the following:
- Draw with a pen or pencil the Hebrew letters of your first name
in Ksav Ashuris;
- Tell the Halachos of when you may or may not use Ksav Ashuris.

Step Three

Explain the advantage of using klaf and diyo over
other writing materials.

Describe the process of manufacturing a Torah in
the following areas:
- the steps in preparing klaf;
- the ingredients which we make the ink used
for diyo;
- the things a Sofer must do in preparation
to write.

Demonstrate how a kulmus is made.

Write with a kulmus the letters Beis and Hei and
your first name in Ksav Ashuris.

Show two differences between the Arizal and Beis
Yosef styles of writing.

Tell two halachos which are related to k'sidram (requirement
of being written in order).

Explain the meaning of chok tochos (writing through
erasing)

Teach a friend how to use a kulmus and write his
own first name in Ksav Ashuris.
