List of requirements


Step One

  1. Recite V'ahavta from the “12 Pesukim” and explain what this passage teaches us.
  2. Sing the camp song entitled “To Love a Fellow Jew”, and explain the point of the song.
  3. Explain the connection between Ahavas Yisroel and the coming of Moshiach.
  4. Tell or write about a story which shows a concrete example of Ahavas Yisroel.
  5. Do all of the following in order:
    1. Explain the purpose of a secret mission.
    2. Choose a secret mission that you can do with your instructor's approval.
    3. Carry out the secret mission that you chose in 5(b).
      Discuss the outcome of the secret mission with your instructor.
  6. Participate in a teamwork activity assigned by your instructor.
  7. Do all of the following:
    1. List six (6) of the 12 Mivtzoyim.
    2. Choose on of the Mivtzoyim which you listed in 7(a) and do one of the following:
      1. Explain how someone your age could take part in that Mivtza;
      2. OR show proof that you have done that Mivtza.
  8. Name three mitzvos which are connected with Ahavas Yisroel and explain the connection.


Step Two

  1. List verses from the written Torah related to the commandment of Ahavas Yisroel.
  2. Show a place in the prayers which mentions the mitzvah of Ahavas Yisroel.
  3. Tell a story which demonstrates the importance of Ahavas Yisroel.
  4. Either write 50 words, or draw a series of pictures, which give a realistic example of doing an act of kindness in your daily life.
  5. Do all of the following in order:
    1. Choose a new secret mission (besides the one you did for Step One), with the approval of your instructor.
    2. Carry out the secret mission that you chose in 5(a).
    3. Discuss the outcome of the secret mission with your instructor.
  6. Complete another teamwork activity (besides the one you did for Step One) assigned by your instructor.
  7. Do all of the following:
    1. List ALL of the 12 Mivtzoyim.
    2. Choose another of the Mivtzoyim (besides the one you chose for Step One) and do one of the following:
      1. Explain how someone your age could take part in that Mivtza;
      2. OR show proof that you have done that Mivtza.
  8. Do one of the following:
    1. Give over an example or story which demonstrates how to fulfill the commandment of Bikur Cholim (visiting the sick).
    2. Do an act of Bikur Cholim.


Step Three

  1. Summarize the main points of Tanya, chapter 32.
  2. Summarize three (3) lessons from Hayom Yom which discuss Ahavas Yisroel.
  3. Tell a story which demonstrates the importance of Ahavas Yisroel to your fellow campers.
  4. Do all of the following in order:
    1. Plan with your instructor a secret mission that will involve your group (bunk or learning class).
    2. Lead your group in completion of the secret mission you planned in 4(a).
    3. Discuss the outcome of the secret mission with your instructor and group.
  5. Participate in a group teamwork activity assigned by your instructor.
  6. Explain how someone your age could carry out each of the Mivtzoyim.
  7. Do one of the following:
    1. Explain the halachos which are related to Bikur Cholim (visiting the sick);
    2. Explain how you can contribute to Shalom Bayis (harmony in the home);
    3. Explain your obligations in regards to Hashavas Avaida (Returning Lost Objects).
